- 9-20-26 Minor fixes and updates - 20 September 2026
This patch fixes a few things that were brought to my attention: - Added the ability to remap the keyboard interaction key (default E) in order to open up the E key for other input remapping. - Fixed an issue where opening the quickspell menu while examining an enemy would remove the cursor - Updated the "enemy highlight" outline effect to be much sharper, more defined, and given a slight flashing function to make it clearer who is currently being selected, example image below: https://i.imgur.com/SZ57D0e.jpeg I believe that's all for today! If you come across any other bugs or issues please let me know! And as always, thank you for playing!
- Minor gamepad fixes - 16 September 2026
Small update this time- after the UI overhaul there were a couple of bugs with gamepad controls, which this update aims to fix. Also, if you gamepad controls enabled and the gamepad gets unplugged or bugged or something, there is now a prompt to disable them and go back to standard mouse controls just by clicking the mouse during gameplay. Hopefully that helps. As always, thanks for playing!
- Minor fish fix - 30 August 2026
I accidentally left my super-secret all-powerful Developer Carrot (TM) sitting outside of Herman's house after the last update. It has now been removed for Your Safety. Also fixed a minor issue with handing in the Fire Snapper not prompting the response that it was supposed to. That's all for today!
- Minor update- some requested save features, fish checklist - 24 August 2026
Skittzo here again, with another minor update. This time it primarily adds a few requested features with a few minor fixes. Fixes first- Bug fixes: Acid and thunder sigil keepers would respawn indefinitely, this was not intended. This is now fixed. Fixed a language issue with one of the fishing results Fixed an issue where character portraits were not clickable in training/learn skill screens. Just found one screen where that was not fixed, and it will be updated ASAP. Requested features: Added the minimap state to savegames- now if you save the game with the minimap up it will still be up when loading this game. This is just something I overlooked for a long time since I rarely use a minimap myself Added the "active character" state to savegames and level transitions- this was just something I had overlooked and not even thought about, but now when transitioning to a new map or loading…
- Small change to previous update - 6 August 2026
The last update introduced a new keyboard indicator icon which would read "space" for things like buying, selling, or hitting the first interaction option during popups- this would read "space" regardless of what key the jump function was assigned to, which could wind up being misleading for those who remap jump to a different key. So now, it has just been changed to show whatever key the jump function is assigned to. One other addition, which is probably more for me than anyone else, there is now an option to skip the intro combat tutorial by holding left click (or right face on gamepad) for two seconds. This makes my playtesting so much less of a pain! As always, thanks for playing!!!
- Slightly less minor update! (Typos+feature requests+more!) - 4 August 2026
This update addresses (hopefully) the remaining typos within the game, a few other bugs, and adds a few new requested features as well as updating the gamepad icons and a few keyboard icons. Typos: I have scoured as much of the game's text as I can manage to fit in a text editor with spell check and made dozens of corrections. There's always the chance the gather text tool missed some (or spellcheck missed some) but I did go through something like 15 million text characters and I'm only one man. Bugs: - Fixed Shield of the Defender not being classed as either heavy or light armor - Fixed an issue where you might wind up getting duplicate thief cards - Fixed an issue where sometimes clues/quest notes would be added again after using the corresponding object more than once - Fixed a rare issue where boss triggers could fire after the boss was defeated and softlock the game - Fixed an issu…
- Minor update: Typos and bugs - 28 July 2026
This is a minor update to address a few bugs and typos that were brought to my attention. - Fixed an issue where you could get locked into a pause state after conversing with an NPC in the world (i.e., not in a building) - Fixed a few issues with the fruit trees in Spinewood Forest - Fixed an issue in the Fiend branch of the ending fight where the battle could end prematurely under certain circumstances - Fixed an issue where sometimes one party member received XP when the entire party should have (minor quests/interactions) - Fixed an issue with the Herman the Crab Hermit fish quest - Fixed a number of typos (Epic, please give Unreal Engine an integrated spell checker ːsteamsadː) - Addressed the skill training menu to more clearly explain how skill training works if you do not have a skill available for training I believe that's all this time. As always please let me know if there are…
- Minor update: Monster Viewer tools! - 24 June 2026
This update fixes a few things that have gone under the radar for me for a bit: Minor typos in monster descriptions Bad Hare's attack animation was bugged, it is now fixed The Manage Ability Bar button was previously bugged after the previous UI update, it is now fixed Some of the ability icons did not highlight/hover properly, this is now fixed Some minor typos on interactables throughout the world have been fixed Fixed an issue where attacking Queen Bryxialla in Spinewood Forest would erase the player's quest log up until that point Now for the additions, primarily dealing with the Monster Viewer and Micapedia: Added buttons to both zoom and pan the camera in the monster viewer, and matching gamepad inputs (ZL/ZR for zoom and right stick for pan) Added the ability to use the keyboard arrows (or whatever keys are set to match the left and right movement input) to scroll through selecte…
- Minor Monster Glade fix - 29 March 2026
Fixed a lighting bug in the Monster Glade. Also fixed an issue where resetting the game to the main menu while in-game and starting a new one would remove the default monster buddies, Rosencrantz the Bone Bum and Guildenstern the Bone Chum
- Minor update, character creator fix + run button - 16 March 2026
This is a minor update meant mainly to address a couple of issues with the character creator menu- namely, the portraits wouldn't save if you toggled them via the left and right buttons, and the stats would show the wrong value if you switch from character to character after adding/subtracting a few Also: - Added a run button. Hold shift to run (button can be changed but I've decided it's going to be a "hold" function rather than a toggle, just to not mess anything else up) - Changed the character creator class info menu to show the details for each of the class-specific abilities. I thought it might be more fun to find out in the game what they do, but now that I think about it again that's kind of silly since you could just examine them right after starting the game.
- Minor update- Mouse sensitivity option - 15 March 2026
As requested, I've updated the options to allow the user to adjust mouse X and Y sensitivity, separately. Have fun!
- Minor item touchup - 12 March 2026
Thanks to some feedback I've updated the item and equipment icons to read a bit clearer, especially for colorblind people. Also fixed a bug with the "assign ability" menu, and fixed the gauntlet cursor image files.
- Second hotfix! Keep em comin'! - 11 March 2026
Because I just cannot help myself, I have fixed another few minor issues that popped up on further testing. Carry on!
- Minor UI update hotfix - 11 March 2026
This patch fixes a couple of small issues with the Rebirth enchantment and the interactable snowmen in the new Snowdrift dungeon that cropped up in my latest round of testing.
- Major UI overhaul and much more! - 10 March 2026
NOTE: Most recent trailer does not reflect these improvements. Stay tuned for a new trailer!!Every element of the UI has been updated and improved, both in functionality and style! All buttons, backgrounds, fonts, item icons, ability icons, descriptions, boxes, borders, layouts... everything! Inventory items and equipment have been significantly upgraded:Ability icons now give you much more information at a glance- the border color tells you what type of ability it is (attack/buff/heal/utility), the crosshair and melee icons are much more visible, and the description will tell you if there are any other restrictions, as well as your current MP charge and whether using it will take you above your maximum! The enemy name and health is in a new spot in the HUD, with much a much nicer looking animated bar! Plus, much clearer and neater turn order icons, better combat log, and truncated gold…
- Minor addendum to previous patch - 25 December 2025
Forgot to carry over the changes for removing the interaction window to chests as well as other interactables. That has now been fixed. Thanks as always for playing!
- Minor UI bug patch - 25 December 2025
This patch fixed a few small problems with the UI, specifically the interaction window staying up when pressing a menu key (C, I, P, etc). Also this hopefully prevents duplicate menu windows from being created, which can lead to an annoying bug where no items or character info is displayed, despite it still being there in the background. One more thing, this update introduces a small bit of the seasonal festivities into Albright Outpost. You may see a bit of snow and possibly a bit more merriment. Perhaps these changes are paving the way for a bigger update in the future...
- Minor control customization update - 28 October 2025
Added the ability to rebind controls for the inventory, abilities, skills, notes, map and flee menus. The correspond new key will show up on the HUD if the name of the key is 2 characters or shorter. Otherwise, it will be left blank. This is because "middle mouse button" stretches the HUD button too much for humans to accept. Also added a gamepad turn sensitivity slider. The turn rate both horizontally and vertically is now adjustable from 0.5x the base rate to 2x the base rate. Happy turning! As always, enjoy the game! And if you like it please, please consider leaving a review!
- Halloween Update - 20 October 2025
Happy Halloween!Albright Outpost has a new neighbor! Try visiting the new pumpkin house near the entrance to Spinewood Forest, and see the tricks and treats within!Featuring all new items and a new mini-dungeon, and some new Halloween-themed monster varieties during the season. Boo!
- Steamdeck compatibility update + minor fixes - 25 September 2025
This new patch attempts to enhance Steam deck compatibility for the game. The game should now start with gamepad controls enabled for Steam deck users, initialize at 1280x720 resolution, and UI scaling has been fixed for a few problematic screens when using Steam deck resolutions. Other minor fixes include a few spelling errors and a permanent buff in the Butlery not activating properly. As always, if you enjoy the game I would really appreciate you thinking about leaving a review so others can find it too! Thanks for playing!
