Most of it comes from your reports, so thank you for sending them in.Quick Reminder: CODEX MORTIS leaves Early Access on September 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM PST. Progression & RewardsFree Packs: fixed the counter that was including packs from schools not available yet. It now shows only the packs you can actually open in the current version. Hi Necromancers! This is the last Early Access update for Codex Mortis. It is live today, and the full 1.0 release follows on September 24, 2026 at 10:00 AM PST. We prepared a short teaser that shows both changes in motion. Watch it below, then read on for the detail. Build your deckWe rebuilt the way a build comes together. You assemble your own deck of cards (skills and spells) and carry it into combat as your loadout, so you decide what you will be casting before the first wave arrives. Booster packs widen the pool you build fromPoints you earn in your runs buy booster packs, and opening one adds new skills and spells to your collection. Every pack you open widens the pool your next deck is built from, and the collection behind your deck screen keeps growing for as long as you keep playing. The whole game is isometric nowWe reworked the entire game to an isometric angle and remade the…

- Road to Full Release - 7 August 2026
Hi Necromancers! Right, time for a proper catch up. We have been quiet for a bit and there is a good reason for that, because we are getting the game ready for full release and a lot of things got torn apart and put back together in the meantime. Here is what has been going on in the crypt. The whole game is isometric nowThis is the big one and it is the reason everything else took as long as it did. We moved CODEX MORTIS from the old top down view to an isometric perspective. Every character sprite in the game is new. While we were there we also grew the playable roster to 31 characters. 200 skills, 10 schoolsHarvest, Death Knight, Spiritism, Desolation and Apothecary are alongside the original five. Feedback from the last beta round was that too many skills were still on placeholder visuals; every skill now has its final art implemented. Cast time on every skill. This one needs a little…

- Apocrypha - The New Story Mode Level Is Live - 29 May 2026
Hi guys! A new story mode begins: Apocrypha. The first chapter is out now in this update. The Overgrown Grave - a cemetery from the age when Life returned to the world… and then began to rot. This is not a dead graveyard. It's a place where life has invaded death. Roots push corpses out of the soil. Flowers grow from skulls. And the Cult of Life still calls it a miracle. In this campaign we explore the origin of necromancy itself - not as evil magic, but as the first heresy against endless growth. Because when Life forgets how to end, death becomes mercy. This is the first level of the mode - more chapters are coming, but The Overgrown Grave is in the game right now. Go play it.Jump in, break it, tell us what you think. Drop your feedback in the comments or on Discord and we'll tweak as we go.Also in this update:On-Hit Effect - new on-hit effect. Reworked so it reads cleanly on big enemies…

- Community Update #15 - Spell Mutators, 1500 Mutations & Level-Up System - 29 April 2026
Hi Everyone,Quick look at what's brewing in the crypt:Spell Mutators — we're building a system that lets spells fundamentally change behavior mid-run. Not just bigger numbers — new patterns, new triggers, weird side effects. Same starter spells, completely different runs.1500 mutations in review — yes, fifteen hundred. All currently being tested for balance, feel, and synergy interactions. The ones that survive will start landing in builds over the coming weeks.New Level-Up System in testing — we're reworking progression so leveling up actually feels like a decision:Rarity now affects how many upgrades are on a single card — rarer cards carry more upgrades, spread across more spells.Milestone levels grant a mutation to one of your spells. No more spell level cap. We're also testing unlocking spells mid-run instead of having your full kit from the start. All of this is live on the Discord b…

Hi everyone, Gargoyle Guardians marks the last new spell for a while. We want to shift focus to polishing the upgrade system, adding more meaningful variety between runes, and experimenting with spell mutators. If you want early access to experimental builds and a say in what ships, join us there.Join our BETA TESTS!New Spell: Gargoyle Guardians (+ 6 Synergies)Summon stone sentinels carved from funerary rock. Hi everyone, New update! Let's dive in :) Minion AnimationsAll minions in the game now have proper animations.New Spell: Rotbanner Herald (+ 6 Synergies)A tanky standard-bearer from the Summoning school whose rotten banner poisons the air around it. - Changelog: Bug Fixes, Malediction Seed & Vein Whip Shot - 19 April 2026
Bug Fixes Level-up golden wave particles are visible again. A skipped system registration caused the entire particle system update to never run, which silently broke level-up VFX, allowed "zombie" particles to accumulate, and suppressed secondary burst effects. Fixed a memory leak caused by world-pickable spawn attempts. Tome pages, artifacts, urns, and scrolls could burn up to 180 entity IDs per spawn attempt when positions were rejected. Long runs with frequent pickups (e.g. Soul Harvest builds) eventually crashed with max entities reached. Fixed a memory leak in Corpse Explosion. Each explosion left behind a non-recycled VFX marker. Builds that chained many corpse detonations over a run could hit the entity cap and crash. Fixed a memory leak in Crimson Rain. Every cast created a permanent rain-controller entity. Spammy casts over a long session contributed to the entity cap crash. Fi…
